LTI
So I was moving on into my project and now I was writing my proposal for my LTI project but my mentor never got to see it because she was always busy to meet with me and actually look at it. One time I did email it to her but I think the email was not send because she never got it which did get me frustrated that I didn't get any feed back from her but I understand that she is busy with college. Other stuff that I did was meet her about the last weeks for the second trimester of Raza Leadership which was very interesting because I finally got to work on the curriculum of the class so we basically talked about how we were going to get the class to choose what the project was going to be or at least what the bias of the class is. We also talked about how we were going to divide the class time so that the class can have some history in it. Also we talked about the 2 classes on spring brake and that I had to email the students on the different community events that were out there.
Im Back to Blogging
So I am starting to blog again and I am going to start of since we started working on the LTI project. So my mentor got to read my Needs Assessment and we worked it out to include the idea of informing students about gang injunctions and her 1st thoughts were to do 2-3 workshops at different schools and she did tell me that she wasn't going to be able to help me as much because she does have other projects that she has to worry about but that she was going to support me with whatever I needed. she also mentioned to me that I could do the workshop at Raza Leadership and at Skyline with the Raza Club. She gave me a lot of advise on what I should do. So basically she told me to use internship to research and do anything for my project but I was also going to have other responsibilities.

Persuasive Intro
UPA home of the jaguars were they create warriors, artists and scholars. Urban Promise Academy Middle school is located by the Fruitvale neighborhood and it serves 300 students is a small school and is part of the Big Picture Organization just like MetWest . Upa serves the grades of 6th-8th grade and it mostly has Hispanic students because is in a communuty of mostly hipanics. UPA also has many things that students can do like sports and programs. Upa also offers many opotuniteies for parents to and it makes them be more involved. Upa also has many events like after school program programs and they show there work as well. One of the most reasont events was EXPO and there they had the chance to what they have learned in that year My 3 reasons why someone would want to intern at upa is because right when you come in you would feel so comfortable. Staff would welcome you and be really nice to you. Dont be scared of students that they might look at you hella mean because they wount they would smile at you and say hi or like what your name.
Hook: My little hall way
"J.J come over here you cant be just getting up your seat just like that you need to ask me for permission" yea that's what I always have to say to one of my students when I work with him outside. I think that through out my internship time at UPA I have spend most of my time in that little hall right outside room 20. I think that me working outside has really made me see stuff differently and made noticed the way that I spend my time. Yet I could say that been outside really helped me because I would get distracted more inside with the students talking to me. I really did like working outside because also I really got to know one of my students really good. I also learned that 7Th graders have it hard. What I mean by this is that they go through so many experiences that people might never think a little 13 year old might go through. One thing that I have to say is that 7Th graders are not little they could even be older than a few of us because all the stuff that they have gone through in life that people might not be aware of. I really learned a lot from been it that little hall way that is always going to be in my memories as an intern.

Another Dabate
As i mentioned in the other blog their are not that many debates going on but me and other interns do debate on stuff like where to go to lunch . Like when me and Jackie have to decide if to go to the Chinese food or go to Wendy's and then i say that we haven't ate Chinese food in a long time then she says that she always eat Chinese food so then at last I just let her chose. Also when me and Karen have to debate were we go to lunch we mostly agree because we always go to lunch together so is easy. I think other debate that we have had recently is what 7Th grade project is the best like Jackie's classes are doing advertisement and they had to do some commercials and my class had to do projects that identified with them which I really liked because I'm into poetry so it was fun to see what they came up with. Even though Jackie argued that their project saw funner I have to say that the poems really showed me another side from my students that I never actually saw before. Also another of the resent debates was at expo and it was when I was in Jackie's class seen the cars that the students did. Me and a few of my students argued about which car was better. The stuff that they argued against me were the paint and the type of car it was. That debate was pretty interesting.

Debate
I think when we most debate on stuff at my internship is when when we have prep and me, my mentor and her iwes are there and we talk about who is doing what. Then her iwes are doing something but want to do different thing and my mentor tells them that they have to finish what their doing. Also then the iwes start talking and getting distracted and taking and they don't do their work. Then my mentor gets mad and I get annoyed because of what they do. Another time when we have a lot of debates is when me and my student j.j work outside and we doesn't want to do his work me and him start to debate on what he has to do and the time. We also start to debate on whether he gets do have his free time or not at the end i get to make the decision because he is the student. Sometimes is based on the work he did that day. I think that at this point me and him dont debate as often no more because we have worked with each other so much that we just agree on the stuff faster

Oprression and liberation
I think that I do see some Oppression at my internship but I think that is in between students. I think that the stuff that I see is that students hang out with there same race but then fight againts there same race to because of some gang issues. But I think that overall Upa liberates the students, like theres many after school programs that help them to learn about there race. I also think that for the fact that UPA is a small middle school the teachers have time for all the studenst and then there not oppressed by them. I also think that teachers dont oppress them either or the staff. Yet some how in my opinion I do think that theres isntitutional oppression towards the school. I think this because UPA is in a neighborhood were the taxes dont help the school as much its hard for them to get money and to have better materials and oportunities. I also think that the discrict is oppressing them because UPA is a small school and right now theres not enough money to have all this school and they want to close small school. Also some kids might be oppressed because of the neighborhood that there in and they might internalize all those things and bring them to school. But this are the only things that come in mind to me.
